The weather for Saturday now shows a 30% and I’m sad. Just two days ago there was a 0%! I am hoping and praying that things will shift by Wednesday or Thursday!
Wedding planning has been pretty crazy, and putting together last minute things has made me stressed. Although there was no other time to do it but now since the guest finalization had to be done. I have no choice but to finish it by TODAY, latest.
Just one and half more days until I am off from work, and get to relax a bit before the wedding. The most stressful thing to me right now is that weather forecast. Come on!!
The weather forecast websites like to F with me. Yesterday, I checked the weather for next Saturday and it was a 30% chance of rain. Now, 0%! I’m going to be watching the weather every day, something that I don’t usually do. I was talking to my cousin and told her about the 30% chance and she told me, “God doesn’t rain on weddings.” Very sweet of her to say, and at the same time, I hope she is right!!
Going to do our final walkthrough at the venue today. Then picking up a bunch of things for favors and other stuff. I can’t believe how fast this wedding crept up! I remember when I was working on the invitation design last year in August! And now I’m packing up wedding stuff to bring over to my parent’s house!
Today we got our marriage license! Well, I thought it was the actual license, but it’s really a marriage license application. Once we’re married, the officiant signs the license, along with witness signatures and then we send it back to the clerk office. We’ll get the official license in the mail after the processing. It wasn’t too bad waiting around to get the license, as they give you a “marriage handbook” that discusses about the law of marriage in the state of Florida. It’s very interesting how Florida looks at marriages as it relates to money, assets, children and closer to the end – divorce and what it consists of. I bypassed that part because that is something I never want to go through anyway!
I can’t believe our wedding is 8 days away. Tomorrow we go to our final walk through at the wedding venue, and then buy some items for our giveaways. I am also praying the weather is perfection! Right now there is a 30% chance of rain and it makes me nervous and sad. It’s still a week out so I’m hoping for the best.
The other day I was talking to a friend and I was telling him about this project I wanted to pursue. I knew that he would be good to talk to since he’s been in that position before, and he told me something that got to me – “God’s got my back.” And I thought, really?
I was brought up a Catholic. And looking back at it, I never really understood God and how it affects me and everyday life. Sure, there is the bible and the readings of what God (or Jesus – see how I’m confused) did for “us.” This is a subject that I feel is very confusing to me, and I started reading the Bible a few days ago. I even listened to Alistair Begg and found him really compelling. I started listening to the first of this series and looking forward to more. My friend also told me to check out the New Testament and I was already confused. So I figured maybe I should just start from the very beginning.
I’m always looking for life lessons through others, and I figure, the Bible is a great way to start, especially now. Getting married and thinking about the future, I want to have something that I can always refer to if I am down, or feeling lost. If anyone has advice about getting started, let me know!!
I absolutely CANNOT believe how close this wedding is. I still have so much stuff to do.
This is what our coffee table looks like:
I’m working on our wedding programs, and hopefully they will be assembled and done by the end of this weekend. Yep, it’s a stretch, but I don’t have any crazy plans. Being a DIY bride is work! After designing and assembling our wedding invitations, I knew that I could tackle doing the programs, and the placecards. I’m not a fan of the default stuff out there. I’m not lazy, and although I’ve wasted countless amount of paper trying to perfect cuts of paper and whatnot, it’ll be worth it (I hope!)
Other than that, I am definitely thinking about the future after marriage and it definitely will be work… but I think I am naturally a “hustler” and I never stop making moves to get what I want. The beginning stages are definitely difficult and there is always fear of failure. But if you don’t even try, then you’ll never know right?
Anyway, this wedding is going to be crazy and I’m going to be all emotional seeing all my relatives all in one place. But I’m excited!
I’ve had my 1994 Mercedes C220 for a long time. I used to drive that car when I lived in NJ and was still going to college. I’d drive that car back and forth to work and then school. That car had its share of driving here and there… it was bought used, but definitely was a good car, mechanically. It was starting to fall apart little by little, and I was fortunate that my dad’s friend wanted to buy it. For what its worth now, I got a good chunk of cash for it, and spent that money towards a lease on a 2010 Honda Civic LX. It’s definitely a more modern car than I’m used to, but it’s good! I’ve never gotten a brand spankin’ new car before so it’s a pretty big deal for me. It’s so pretty, and it has everything I need – a working radio, working turn signals, no more guessing if the door is gonna open or not, no more having to turn the key to open the door (yay for remote car keys!).
Hoping that this 3 years of car leasing goes well! Cheers!
I love Aziz Ansari. He’s one of my absolute favorite actors/comedians. I even got to briefly meet him when he did standup in Miami last year. Here’s his interview on Jimmy Kimmel about his recent trip to Austraila. He talks about some guy named Skerritboy (spelling?) and how he did some dance called, ‘Delete Them.’ Hilarious!
Yeah, pretty much expect more Aziz on this blog.
I’m not a tv whore whatsoever, but with the news about Conan O’Brien being booted off because of Jay Leno makes me sad. I thi
nk Conan is a way better late night guy and should stay on the Tonight Show slot, but I guess Jay is more of the veteran. I really hope that Conan takes something else somewhere else. I’d hate to see him go!! Conan was always my favorite late night guy, and I’d even stay up late just to see him do the string dance and see his funny face expressions! I even went to 2 live tapings when he was in NYC. And those were some good times! So it makes me sad that he possibly will go bye bye forever!
In other tv news, the show Southland was on NBC and was close to cancellation because of Jay Leno’s show. But thankfully TNT picked up the show and it’s premiering tonight! Even though they’re playing the pilot episode, I’m still going to tune in to help the ratings! Such a good show, and I’m glad it’s still around.
Oh, and last night, and this is totally off from the last 2 paragraphs, but I saw the show Hoarders and I can’t believe people live in trash! I know its a disease and all, but really?
Ok, end tv rant.
Other than coughing my ass off, I’m feeling better from this crazy annoying cold. The weather has been totally insane. It is currently 34 degrees and I honestly don’t remember it ever being this cold in the 5 years I’ve been living here in South Florida. Obviously, I don’t have “winter” clothing so I have to dress in layers and even so, it’s still freezing!
Anyway, today was my 2nd dress fitting, and the dress fit fine, although the midsection area is tight. I can definitely work out and slim that area down, so I hope by my last fitting in February, everything will be a-ok. After that, my mom and I went to buy some flowers so she could do some corsage and boutonniere trials. We also figured out the centerpieces for the tables at the reception as well. Everything went pretty well, and I have decided on using silk and real flowers. Sure, silk flowers are somewhat ‘cheap’ but for centerpieces and the way we are doing it, I don’t think it will be such an issue.
So less than 50 days left. Still so much to do! Tomorrow I’ll be trying to work on finalizing favors and the ceremony.
A new year, and guess what happened? I got sick! (And still lingering) Being sick when you want to start a bunch of new things but you feel like not doing anything sucks! But, slowly, but surely, I’m getting back into the ‘groove’ and will definitely be working my butt off. This year I have a few goals.
- Get out of credit card debt!
- Tone my body (meaning lose the muffin top and flabby arms/legs) and eat healthier (no dieting!)
- And of course my personal project I shall call – “Project Domo”
Hopefully in 3 months I can update on these, but for now, that’s that.
Other than that, life is hectic. The wedding is 51 days away. I can’t believe how close it is. There is still a bunch to do. I honestly need to manage my time better. I’m excited to see all my relatives and Glen’s relatives who are flying from all over the country, Canada and Ecuador! Crazy. I hope everything turns out to plan. My head is spinning thinking about it.
On that note, I better get some rest if I want to get 100% better.
